As I said in the comments section, you pretty much said exactly my thoughts. It's so amazing that Disney has returned to hand-drawn animation, but the fact that they wrote such a beautiful and touching and funny story is enough to make this one of the Studio's best. And I absolutely love the music (heck, I'm listening to the soundtrack right now). But, yeah, I seriously loved the film and your review did extremely well explaining what was so good about The Princess and the Frog.

Three questions:
1) Who was your favourite character?
2) What was your favourite song?
3) Where would you rank Tiana among the Disney princesses?

My own personal answers:
1) Ray was probably my favourite. He really is the heart of the film, if you think about. But, everybody else was awesome, too. I especially have a soft-spot for Naveen. If Disney decides to make another flick with Jose Carioca, Campos must voice him!
2) "Dig a Little Deeper", though "When We're Human" and "Down in New Orleans" are close second and third.
3) For the longest while, I had Belle had my favourite Disney princess and I still think Belle is awesome, but Tiana is now my #1. Smart, funny, independent, strongly developed and beautiful. Not that Belle and Jasmine weren't any of those, but Tiana just has so much more.

But, yeah, this is my favourite animated film of the year, my favourite film from any medium of the year and your best review yet. I liked the beginning with you exiting the screening. That was really creatively done.

I pretty much agree with yours. I too give it a full rating.

I agree with everything said in your review, HeweyLewis. While I didn't really dislike any of the CGI films, except for Dinosaur and Chicken Little, I did miss the traditional 2-D Animation. Princess and the Frog had so many things going for it before it was even released. I only saw the movie a couple of days ago, and I already want to see it again. Naveen and Tiana is possibly my favorite starring couple in a Disney movie, with Ray and Evangeline being my favorite supporting couple.

Now for ThatFellow's questions.

1) Naming a favorite character is going to be very hard, seeing how they are all great in one way or another. Ray for his humor and sweet nature. Louis for his jazz-loving ways and desire to be excepted. Naveen for his suave, yet still caring by the end disposition. Tiana for her determination and independence. Charlotte for her sweetness. Mama Odie for...being Mama Odie. Facilier for being both creepy and enticing with Keith David's voice. But...just to be funny, I'm going to say my favorite character is "Onion-Head", one of the little "dolls" that are seen during "Friends on the Other Side".

2) Likewise, it's hard for me to name my favorite song, but I'll have to go with "When We're Human" and "Down the Bayou", just because I couldn't get the songs out of my head.

3) Tiana is my favorite Disney princess. That's all I have to say.

1. Prince Naveen - All the characters are great, but Naveen is a prince that actually has a subplot. I'll leave it at that. Second favorite goes to Louis, the Alligator.

2. Down in New Orleans. Second's "When We're Human".

3. I personally think this is the best Disney princess. While other Princesses, like Snow White, and Cinderella have waited for their dreams to come true, Tiana worked her way through owning her restaurant and know Naveen other than love at first sight. Belle had the same thing, but very little back story. As for Mulan, I don't think she's a Princess at all. Just a Disney character.

Well, Disney considers her a princess, but I think mainly because she stars in a popular film. Her parents aren't royal and she doesn't marry into royalty, so her character isn't really a princess.

If anything, Jane should be a Disney princess, since she does marry the King of the Jungle. But, oh, well. Disney doesn't seem to care much for Tarzan, despite the boat-load of money it made them. And I think the Jane-Tarzan relationship is up there with Tiana-Naveen, Belle-Beast and Aladdin-Jasmine.

Well, Mulan did hug royalty (the Emperor), which I guess sort of counts. Also, nobody mentioned that Pocahontas is considered a Disney Princess, which I guess she is, considering she's the daughter of Chief Powhatan. If you were to ask me, maybe Disney should include Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas as a Disney Princess, since she is a good leading lady (& she does hook up with Jack Skellington, a.k.a "the Pumpkin King").

Disney does seem to be very selective with who count as Disney Princesses. Their official princesses are: Snow White, Cinderella, Briar Rose, Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Pocahontas, Mulan and Tiana. I assume Rapunzel will make the list when her film comes out next year and depending on how popular she is (Tiana merchandise keeps on selling out).

Along with Jane, Giselle (from Enchanted) should be considered a Disney princess, but I guess they don't count her because she mostly appears in live-action form, plus spoiler alert (highlight over to read) she never becomes a princess since she doesn't marry Edward and instead chooses to marry Patrick Dempsey. But, if Mulan is a princess, so should Giselle! But, maybe I'm biased because of how much of a fan I am of Enchanted.

Nala and Maid Mariam should also be princesses, but I guess Disney doesn't count them since they're not human. It will be interesting to see if Pixar's first princess from their upcoming feature The Bear and the Bow will also be put alongside the official Disney Princess list. Since Disney bought Pixar, they're now considered the same company according to Lasseter.

I actually agree with this. Since I grew up in the 90's, when Pixar was only beginning, I always thought that Toy Story & A Bug's Life were Disney movies & that there was no difference. In fact, I even think that The Nightmare Before Christmas & James & the Giant Peach are Disney films, despite being stop-motion. I think that as long as it has the Disney name on it, it's Disney. Nobody has to stick with the official canon (which makes a large part of the Disney movies).
